Natural Gas: Fracking!
Feb 22, 2012 – Martin Wolf in the Financial Times reports, “Prepare for a golden age of gas”. Fracking has drastically increased the amount of dry gas being produced in the USA to 23%, more than a 10-fold increase in just 10 years. It is feasible that with today’s technology the amount of gas recoverable in the world via fracking would be equal to current reserves of gas available by other means. The largest identified resources, apart from those of the US, are in China, Argentina, Mexico, South Africa, Australia, Canada, Libya, Algeria, Brazil, Poland and France. Regions excluded from this analysis include Russia, central Asia, the Middle East, south-east Asia and central Africa. Read the full article in the Financial Times.
