We live in a large house in WPB. Our mounthly electrical bills are runnning high: two water pumps,landscape lighting, interior lighting – it adds up. We did consider installing solar panels at first, but after several weeks of research we realized that this tempting green solution was unfortunately unaffordable. We were advised to work with a lighting design consultant. They offered several affordable options: we chose to install a lighting control system that integrates all lights around the house and grounds,has a time clock to turn the lights on and off and can dim the lighting levels throughout the house with a touch of a button (very convenient). We also changes lamps from regular incandescent to LED lamps (really expensive stuff but lasts and consumes very little energy). Very happy with this choice. We are now saving on average 30 to 40% on electricity. But if anyone know an affordable solar panel system or have one installed I would like to get some feedback on that, please. I know that there has been a lot of ongoing research and development for cost effective solar panels.
