Lade writes, “Hybrids Often So Quiet They Can Be Dangerous” in the Florida Sun-Sentinel.  They are “significantly” more likely to be involved I accidents with cyclists and pedestrians who don’t hear their quiet engines.  Earlier this year I spend a day in a friend’s Prius.  The only noises are the radio and the talking of the occupants.  The article quotes a study from the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration that reports that hybrid vechicles that were turning, slowing or backing up were TWICE as likely to crash with pedestrians.  It is not easy being green.  What has been your experience?  Read the full details in the article.
