Schwartz reports in The New York Times on July 15, “To Shrink A U.S. Car, Chrysler Goes To Poland: Maker of Beefy Autos Ponders Fiat’s Lightweight Ways.” This article discusses the pilgrimage of Chrysler executives and manager to Tychy in Poland to see how Fiat of Italy manufactures the Fiat 500. The plant turned out about 500,000 cars in 2008.
