Are You Getting Your Fair Share of Stimulus Energy Aid? Not If You Live in the South.
July 10, 2009 – Jennifer LaFleur writing for ProPublica points out that weatherization funds from the US government will range from $14.40 per eligible person in Hawaii to $138.00 per eligible person in North Dakota. Florida and Minnesota residents have approximately equal energy costs and consumption per resident, but Florida will is receiving $31.50 per eligible person and Minnesota residents will receive $110.40, more than 3x as much. Apparently, the government believes that helping people from shivering is more important than helping people avoid heat stroke. Or possibly the northern states have more effective Senators and Congressmen. Please leave your comments here.
