SOLAR 2009 Conference – Buffalo/Niagara, New York, May 11-16, 2009
SOLAR 2009, the 38th ASES National Solar Conference, marks the dawning of a new era. With $65 billion flowing to the energy sector through the American Recovery & Reinvestment Act, solar professionals, entrepreneurs and business leaders are heading to SOLAR 2009 to uncover the latest opportunities in the new energy economy.
Long recognized for its industry-leading educational sessions, SOLAR 2009 brings together top energy experts to share insights on where the industry is headed. Thousands of solar leaders are expected to attend this year’s conference May 11-16 at the Buffalo-Niagara Convention Center in Buffalo, New York.

SOLAR 2009 is part of America’s longest running national solar conference series, now in its 38th year. It’s organized by the nonprofit American Solar Energy Society in collaboration with many other pioneering organizations.
“If you want to meet the leaders and innovators shaping the industry, SOLAR 2009 is the best place to find them.” said Brad Collins, Executive Director of the American Solar Energy Society. “There’s a reason solar professionals come back year after year.”
Conference participants can choose from more than 200 educational sessions to gain the latest industry insights, as well as attend tours, workshops and public events. Participants can also see the latest technology up close in the exhibit hall. Exhibit space is sold out due to high demand.
Unique at the ASES conference is a best-in-class training event called SOLAR SUCCESS! developed through a special partnership with Conergy and more than a dozen leading manufacturers. Last year, over 500 professionals participated in the event, making it the largest installer training in the industry.
“The SOLAR SUCCESS! workshop is designed to provide essential industry insight to those interested in breaking into the business,” said Donald Chung, Managing Director for Conergy Americas. “Many of those engaged in the construction trades don’t realize that their skill sets and companies can be efficiently transitioned into the burgeoning business of solar energy.” SOLAR SUCCESS! is also beneficial for solar energy dealers and installers positioning their businesses to leverage new opportunities and markets.
SOLAR 2009 takes place in Buffalo/Niagara, New York, a region recognized as one of the birthplaces of the renewable energy industry. The New York State Energy Research and Development Authority (NYSERDA) is the Title Sponsor of SOLAR 2009.
“Continued investment in clean-energy businesses will further New York’s position as a leader in the innovation economy, and NYSERDA has the funding and the resources to help create and grow clean energy business in New York,” said NYSERDA President and CEO Francis J. Murray, Jr. “Sponsoring the ASES Conference in Buffalo is one more way we are helping to support and grow New York businesses.”
The U.S. is expected to be the world’s largest solar market by 2013, if not sooner. Decreasing solar costs, ongoing innovation, unprecedented new investment – as well as growing concern about climate change – are all contributing to industry growth.
