SCHOTT Solar to Open New PV Manufacturing Facility
Apr 10, 2009 – SCHOTT Solar, Inc. says, “The Future of Solar is Now.” They are having the grand opening of their flagship manufacturing facility in Albuquerque, NM on May 11, 2009. This site will being producing photovoltaic [PV] modules and will be the first US facility producing innovative receiver for utility scale concentrated solar power plants. The $100 million facility will employ 350 people in green jobs by the end of 2009. Thus, this plant moves the US further along to accomplishing President Barack Obama’s goal of greater green energy utilization while at the same time providing new jobs for helping the economy. SCHOTT expects to be able to quadruple capacity at the facility over the next decade and have a $1 billion impact on the Albuquerque region by 2020.
