President Barack Obama Wants to Lower Taxes for Lower Income Individuals. Not.

Feb 27, 2009 – A congressional commission [National Surface Transportation Infrastructure Financing Commission - NSTIFC] recommended raising the federal gasoline tax by 10 cents per gallon. This 54% increase from the current 18.4 cents per gallon would be very regressive and hit low income and middle income individuals who commute to work and drive their kids to schools and activities hard. The NSTIFC also recommended raising the diesel tax 15 cents per gallon from the current level of 24.4 cents per gallon. Please leave your comments here.
