Peapod Electric Vehicle [EV]
Feb 4, 2009 – Chrysler subsidiary, GreenEcoMobility, introduced the Peapod, a clean, gasoline-free and emission-free electric vehicle last fall. To date, 38,000 have been sold. Chrysler calls it a “neighborhood electric vehicle” and rightly so as this is not a family car replacement. It points out that the Peapod is “ideal for use in settings such as city centers, planned communities, military bases, college campuses, corporate and commercial centers, and city, state and national parks.” It also claims that the vehicle has an “innovative, ground-breaking design”. Wasn’t Chrysler part of Daimler when they introduced the smartcar, to which the Peapod is similar in shape?
The Peapod has a top speed of 25 mph and a range of 30 miles per charge [taking 6-8 hours using a standard 110-volt outlet. It is street legal in 40 states. Please leave your comments on your experience with the Peapod if you own or have used one
