Chrysler Electric Vehicles [EVs] & Hybrid Vehicles [HVs]

Feb 4, 2009 – GM [NYSE: GM] has made a lot of publicity about its Chevy Volt EV. What about Chrysler? See related post on the Peapod from GreenEcoMobility [GEM], a unit of Chrysler. Chrysler has another unit, ENVI [taken from the first 4 letters of environmental], that has been developing electric vehicles [EVs]. Three are far along: an all-electric Dodge sports car, and 2 that Chrysler calls Range-extended electric vehicles, a Chrysler Minivan and a Jeep Wrangler. Range extended EVs seems to be another name for a hybrid vehicle as it contains a small gasoline engine.
The Dodge EV is a pure EV with a capability of 0-60 mph in less than 5 seconds and a range of 150-200 miles per charge. However, schedule your trip for a long picnic as you will need 6-8 hours to recharge at 110 volts or half that with a 220 volt outlet.
Both the Jeep EV and the Chrysler Minivan are hybrid vehicles [HVs] with a range of 400 miles including 40 miles of no gas, no emissions, all-electric operation. Turn the figures around and you have 360 of the 400 miles using gasoline.
Please leave your comments about these future Chrysler products.
