Green Ads: ExxonMobil
Jan 21, 2009 – Try to keep track of which companies are in the green energy business and who is in the traditional energy business. It’s not easy if you are only following the print ads placed by the companies with the most advertising dollars. ExxonMobil is continuing touting themselves. The ad says, “Provide energy. Protect the environment. A dual challenge for all of us.” The ad goes on to state the many challenges facing the US and the world to get, transport and deliver energy. It further states, “Everyone has a role to play – industry, governments, individuals.” Doesn’t ExxonMobil have a bigger role to play than those of us installing CFLs? ExxonMobil doesn’t mention in this ad what they are doing to lessen environmental impact, deliver cleaner energy, renewable energy, etc. I am sure they are investing in some of these areas, but it is not described in this ad. Please provide your comments on their activities to address the issues in their ad.
