SOLAR STOCKS SHINING?
Nov 26, 2008 – Have solar stocks hit bottom and are they now ready to soar to their previous heights? I do not know, but the stocks in the Solar portfolio that I watch on Yahoo Finance are all showing green up numbers. Included in the list of soaring solar stocks are the ones that I bought yesterday showing gains of over 10%. Did I make the right call yesterday? Again, I didn’t bet all my assets on that determination, but I did feel that a number of these shares are down 50-80% from their 52 week highs. I do believe that the majority of customers make economic decisions with respect to green energy and oil is down drastically from earlier this year. Our local gas stations are supplying gasoline close to $2.00 per gallon & I hope my next fill up will be at less than this milestone level. On the other hand, President-elect Barack Obama keeps talking about a major part of his economic plan is going to be directed to alternative energy. This is very important because despite the welcome that the extension of renewable energy tax credits received recently, what good are tax credits if you do not have any capital gains, a job, a bonus or an increase in salary if you still have a job. However, if the government [US, state, municipal] spend money directly on alternative energy infrastructure, it has to be good for the solar energy and other green energy industries.
