Ideas for Barack Obama on the Environment and Business

Ian Bowles, Secretary of Energy and Environmental Affairs in Massachusetts, spoke about ideas for Barack Obama pertaining to the environment and business.
President-elect Obama has said he can start moving the nation, and the world, toward the clean energy economy of the future – capitalizing on opportunities to reduce energy costs, increase energy independence, and create new jobs.  Some ideas include  establishing a strong cap-and-trade program to reduce greenhouse gas emissions across the economy, auctioning, rather than giving away, emissions allowances; using regulatory authority to begin regulating greenhouse gases under the Clean Air Act;  pushing U.S. automakers to develop a super-efficiency fleet of new cars by approving a waiver that will allow 11 states adopt stricter emissions standards and rejoin global climate change treaty talks.
