StatoilHydro Annouces Oil Discovery & Gas Discovery in Norwegian Sea

Aug 25, 2008 – Stavanger, Norway, StatoilHydro [STO] CEO Helge Lund announced an oil discovery under the Dagny structure in the North Sea estimated at 100-125 million barrels that he said confirms that the region is still very prospective.  Also, StatoilHydro senior VP Tim Dodson announced a deep water [3925 meters] gas discovery in the Norwegian Sea estimated to contain about 4 billion cubic meters of recoverable gas.

 

StatoilHydro is pursuing green energy solutions including natural gas, floating wind turbines, tidal turbines, wave power, conservation, and a wind energy project on the island of Utsira that supplies all the inhabitants with power while producing hydrogen with the excess power.
