New York Times Op-Ed Editor Gail Collins on McCain/Obama Energy Plans
Aug 7, 2008 – Gail Collins , Op-Ed, The New York Times , “The Energy Drill .” “This is energy week on the campaign trail.” “Both McCain and Barack Obama have spent the last few days wandering around the country, scowling at gas pumps and talking up their energy plans. McCain dubbed his The Lexington Project. Obama seems to be called New Energy for America.” McCain has attempted to ridicule Obama’s suggestion to keep our tires inflated properly by handing out pressure gauges. [Disclosure: I have a gauge in my car, but rarely use it.] This piece suggests that the new plans of both candidates are pandering to the public’s new heightened interest in new sources of energy and conservation after the public realized that SUVs built to navigate the Serengeti are superfluous in most parts of the US.
