July 29,2008 – The New York Times, “Rush for Natural Gas Enriches Forgotten Corner of the South” – There is a new natural gas rush in northwest Louisiana that began in March 2008 when it was announced that the Haynesville Shale gas-bearing rock deposit had enormous reserves. Some experts say it may be the largest deposit in the continental USA. Land that was selling for $1,000 per acre is now fetching up to $30,000 per acre plus future royalties. Some residents of the area have already sold their mineral rights and become millionaires
